Leverage - Built to Last

This video is to show my gratitude to great Leverage team, the whole cast and crew of this amazing show. As of now, there is still no word yet regarding a 6th season and we are down to the last 2 episodes of the 5th season, possibly, the final 2 episodes of the series.

Gotta admit, I didn’t expect to be a bit teary-eyed as I was putting the video together. Such an amazing group of talented people. It would be such a waste if TNT doesn’t renew the show.

I’m still hoping beyond anything that we will see our favorite Mastermind, Grifter, Hacker, Thief and Hitter take out bad guys next year (and years to come?). But whatever happens, I’m thankful that I was able to ride the fun train in the Leverage-verse.

I chose the song Built to Last by Melee because the chorus, for me, describes Leverage perfectly. It is a great show with just the right mixture of drama and comedy. The chemistry of the cast is impeccable because they are real friends on and off screen. The show is fun to watch. It is a feel-good show and as the lyrics of the song says..

“Cause this is real and this is good
It warms the inside just like it should
Most of all, most of all, it’s built to last.”

Dean Devlin's Open Letter to Leverage Fans

From Dean Devlin
Dear LEVERAGE Fans,
As of the writing of this letter, we still do not know if there will be a season six of our show. Just as we didn’t know when we created the last three episodes which are about to air. Because of this uncertainty, John Rogers and I decided to end this season with the episode we had planned to make to end the series, way back when we shot the pilot. So, the episode that will air on Christmas is, in fact, the series finale we had always envisioned.

This is not to say we would not do a season six should we get the opportunity. Everyone involved with the show, from the cast, the crew, the writers and producers, would like nothing more than to continue telling these stories. But, in case we do not get that opportunity we felt that, creatively, after 77 episodes, we owed it to you, our fans, to end the show properly.

I sincerely hope you watch these last three episodes. They build to our conclusion. And the finale, I believe, is the most powerful episode we’ve ever done.

From all of us who make the show, thank you for watching, supporting and encouraging us. I’ve never experienced a fandom as intense, loyal and wonderful as you all.

Let’s go steal a series finale!
          Dean Devlin
       Executive Producer/Director LEVERAGE
Now, this just leaves an empty hole in my chest. I admit that TNT’s silence is really not good news for the show. But I believe that this season, the series has explored a different side of the characters and what “jobs” the team can take up. This opens up the opportunity to continue this into the next season(s), but it seems that as of right now, the future is looking rather bleak for Leverage.
That is just so sad as I will truly miss our favorite Mastermind, Grifter, Thief, Hacker and Hitter. I fell out of radar with this show somewhere in the middle of season 3, but after finding the time to catch up, I fell in love with it once again. The story plots are just great, the characters are very interesting people and the chemistry the cast has is just impeccable. It’s a considered a drama but the comedic stuff is just as awesome. Who would have thought that Tim Hutton has a great comedic side in him? And what about Beth and Aldis? Their careers bloomed with this show and we saw how they are diamonds in the ruff, and luckily the Leverage people were able to see their awesomeness (yes!) and introduce them to us. And of course, Christian and Gina. Truly great actors that can change from drama to comedy in a beat.

If these last 3 episodes are really the last, then these last 3 shows are going to be epic. Right now, I just want to say thanks to Dean, John, Chris D., Tim, Gina, Beth, Aldis and Chris for sharing 5 wonderful seasons in the Leverage-verse. Thank you for creating such wonderful characters and bringing these characters to life. But I hope to open another chapter and get a season 6. We are not yet done with Nate, Sophie, Parker, Hardison and Eliot. We want the fun train to continue chugging along. So as long as TNT hasn’t said any final word, Grifters around the world will continue to fight for that 6th season. And yes, if there is one thing that we, the fans, can do to really show our appreciation for the cast and crew of this unique series, we will continue to pile up the votes and hopefully give them that well deserved People’s Choice Award.
